SHCHEKINOAZOT AT THE INTERNATIONAL YASNAYA POLYANA FORUM [01.06.2017]
On 31 May - 1 June Tula region hosts the International Yasnaya Polyana Forum. Shchekinoazot is an annual partner of the eco-marathon.
The forum has been held in Tula region since 2006. Its main issues are Environment, Health and Culture.
The forum programme includes a two-day discussion in meetings and round tables, Internet conferences with Russian regions and other countries, exhibitions by environmentally oriented companies and organisations with their latest developments.
Over the years of its existence, the forum has been attended by more than 5000 experts, government and business representatives, social activists, environmentalists and the media. Every year more than 300 people attend the exhibition.
The forum traditionally attracts a wide public - specialists from different countries and Russian regions. For 10 years, representatives from Russia, the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Israel, Poland, the Netherlands, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Vietnam and Italy have participated in its work.
The eco-marathon was just as big this year.
Environmentalists and experts from different countries gathered to share their experience and discuss plans, present the latest research results and technical achievements using the best available technologies. It became a communication platform for environmental and medical professionals: experiences were shared and development prospects were presented, activities were successfully demonstrated, and new partners and business proposals were discovered.
State Duma deputies Natalia Pilyus and Vladimir Afonsky, the heads of government bodies, public environmental organisations, as well as large production companies, including Shchekinoazot, took part in the opening ceremony and the work of the forum.
A welcome address to the forum participants on behalf of the Governor of the Tula region Alexey Dyumin was read by Deputy Prime Minister of Tula region - Minister of Youth Policy for Tula region Yulia Veprintseva.
Honorary forum participants stressed the importance of an open and comprehensive discussion of existing environmental problems and ways to solve them.
In her speech, Natalia Pilyus gave an example of effective government, society and business cooperation – Shchekinoazot – for preserving natural wealth and developing the territories of Shchekinsky district. Based on these objectives, the regional authorities, companies and the Museum-Estate Yasnaya Polyana signed the "Yasnopolyansky Agreement", under which environmental measures and actions have been taking place for more than 10 years.
In recent years, as Natalia Pilyus noted, Shchekinoazot's development has not increased the burden on the environment, on the contrary, it has reduced it. A complex of significant nature protection measures is being implemented, including the construction of new treatment facilities.
It is also worth noting that in April this year, in preparation for the forum, an on-line course was held for young professionals on the theme of "Environment and Health" with representatives of the scientific community from Albany (United States). The course was attended by students from Tula universities and young specialists from companies, including Shchekinoazot. Daria Zhadobina, engineer-microbiologist from the laboratory for water control of the centralised department of technical control, and Olga Stepanova, laboratory technician from the laboratory for quality control of water raw materials, materials and oils of the centralised department of technical control, attended the course of lectures given by David Carpenter, professor at Albany University.
The course participants received international certificates of training at the forum.
