“MINERAL FERTILIZERS: MODERN TRENDS IN ENERGY AND RESOURCE EFFICIENCY”[20.03.2019]
On March 19–20, Shchekino District will host the international conference “Mineral: Fertilizers: Modern Trends in Energy and Resource Efficiency.” The conference was organized by international information research company INFOCHEM and chemical company Shchekinoazot.
Over 60 international companies participated in the conference which was held in the large hall of the Khimik community center in the settlement of Pervomaisky. Among them were Haldor Topsoe, MCC EuroChem, Nevinnomyssky Azot, Industrial Park Yamburg, Tulagiprochem, Aumund Fördertechnik GmbH, BASF, Bertsch Energy GmbH & Co KG, CASALE, Chriwa Wasseraufbereitungstechnik, Fluiten Italia SPA, Frenzelit GmbH (Technical Solutions), Meleuz Mineral Fertilizers, KBR Weatherly, etc.
OJSC Shchekinoazot was represented at the conference by A.S. Surba, General Director, V.A. Kurganov, Technical Director, E.K. Savosh, Deputy General Director for Development and Quality, V.V. Ponomarenko, Deputy General Director for Production, as well as Division and Department Managers.
A.K. Surba, Shchekinoazot General Director, gave the opening speech.
He stressed that it was symbolic to hold the conference in the settlement of Pervomaisky, the settlement of chemists, that was built and developed along with the Shchekino gas plant and the chemical plant which formed the basis of today’s Shchekinoazot.
It is also symbolic that many good initiatives started here, in a small settlement, and then spread across the country and the world as a successful experience, which is recognized across the country and even the whole world.
Anatoly Surba spoke about the stages in the development of the company and challenges the company faced.
“Since 2005, the company has been implementing an investment program aimed at modernizing existing production facilities and creating new ones using modern high-tech and energy-efficient technologies.
Over the past 14 years we have implemented 16 investment projects and invested over $882 million in production.
We’ve recently built and launched four new cutting-edge production units.
We’ve also launched the M450/A-135 methanol-ammonia production complex equipped with new sewage treatment plants, as well as sulfuric acid, perfume-quality dimethyl ether production units (the PCC SE joint venture). These production facilities are of great importance to Shchekinoazot as they determine the development of the company for the years ahead!
...We will further consolidate the company’s position by launching production of methanol-500, nitric acid and ammonium nitrate, urea and ammonia. These are our future development plans but we’ve already started bringing them to action! We place a premium on these projects!
Our goal is to become one of the country’s leading producers of methanol and to strengthen the company’s positions on the mineral fertilizers market...
Implementation of urea and ammonia, nitric acid and ammonium nitrate production projects will enhance the existing processing chain, give an opportunity to fully process raw materials and expand the company’s product range.
Our company is a major natural gas and refined petroleum products (benzene) processor. All projects involve investments in products with a higher added value. As part of the company’s strategic development, we plan to increase natural gas processing to 3 bln m3 by 2024 (i.e. 3.5 times compared to 2015 figures). Production and sales volume will grow fourfold in 2024 compared to 2015.”
Anatoly Konstantinovich wished conference participants productive work and a beneficial and efficient partnership.
A plenary session was then held with a presentation of reports and their further discussion.
Mikhail Shkirev, a Regional Manager of Haldor Topsoe, which is a partner of Shchekinoazot and a globally renowned licensor, made a presentation on the topic “Topsoe technology for integrated production of IMAP™ methanol and ammonia.”
Sergey Abramov, a senior business development manager, spoke about KBR Weatherly’s use of modern energy-efficient technologies in nitric acid production.
Among the topics discussed at the conference were: “Quality control in the production of mineral fertilizers”, “Automatic control of emissions produced by chemical companies: practical aspects of solutions”, “Mineral fertilizer cooling procedure”, “Development of modern warehouse infrastructure for storing bulk products”, “New solutions in the use of polyethylene packaging by mineral fertilizer producers”, “Resource-saving technologies used in IPCO equipment for granulating mineral fertilizers”, “Experience of introducing automatic systems for environmental monitoring of harmful substance emissions into the atmosphere at enterprises that specialize in the production of mineral fertilizers: The case of KJSC Azot (Nitrogen)”, etc.
The conference will continue on March 20. Participants are going to tour the Shchekinoazot company ? the hall of labor fame and the industrial site where they will get acquainted with enterprise’s modern production facilities.
