ADDITIONAL 100 STORAGE TANKS BOUGHT[17.05.2019]
Shchekinoazot purchased 100 storage tanks for transportation of methanol produced by TikhvinKhimMash.
The TikhvinKhimMash plant (part of the RPC UWC holding) is working on Shchekinoazot’s order for 100 specialized tankers for methanol transportation. The whole batch will be shipped before the end of July, 2019.
The tankers (model 15-6880) have a load capacity of 73 tons and a cubic capacity of 88 m³ and are equipped with a running gear with an axle load of 25 tf. The increased net volume of the tank provides an additional load of up to 2 tons per car compared to the most commonly used equivalent. The overhaul mileage of this model is up to 1 million km, which is several times higher than 23.5 tf for truck cars and significantly reduces operating costs throughout the entire life cycle.
Transportation of methanol in tankers, produced by TikhvinKhimMash, allows the operator and the cargo owner to reduce transportation costs and the cost of maintaining the rolling stock fleet and to increase the efficiency of freight transportation.
Methanol is characterized by a high hazard class, which places many restrictions on a rolling stock intended for its transportation. To meet the requirements of environmental standards and protect people from harmful effects, TikhvinKhimMash tanks are equipped with modern safety valves, having a burst disc made of foil, that prevent methanol or its vapors from contact with the environment. Another important design feature of the car is its special discharge-filling fitting located in the upper part of the storage tank. The fitting is covered with a sliding cap, on which the locking device is installed — it helps to additionally prevent unauthorized access to the hazardous cargo.
Since the beginning of 2013, UWC has delivered 396 tankers to Shchekinoazot for transportation of liquid bulk chemical cargoes and 80 hopper cars for transportation of mineral fertilizers on trucks with an axial load of 25 tf.
Evgenia Khomyakova, Director General of OOO TD RPC Azot, comments, “The company is interested in buying high-quality rolling stock that meets safety regulations and standards for transportation of hazardous goods. RPC UWC tankers are highly reliable during operation, have design features, particularly reinforcement equipment, which affects the safety of methanol transportation. The use of TikhvinKhimMash tankers for methanol makes it possible to organize the most efficient product transportation.”
At the moment the standard-sized range of tankers produced at the TikhvinKhimMash plant comprises over 10 models of tanks and their modifications, including those for transportation of methanol, ammonia, technical sulfuric acid, LPG, oil and oil products, etc., as well as those produced with an aluminum and corrosion-resistant steel boiler for transportation of a wide range of chemical goods (concentrated nitric acid, caustic soda, molten sulfur, formalin, calcium chloride, ethylene glycol, caustic potash, compound liquid fertilizers, etc.) and food products (molasses and vegetable oils, ethanol).
