AGREEMENT SIGNED TO ESTABLISH NEW PRODUCTION FACILITY FOR MULTILAYER NON-WOVENS[03.06.2021]
On 3 June, at the XXIV Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, an agreement was signed on the establishment of new manufacture of multilayer non-woven fabrics for medical purposes, to utilise Meltblown (spunbond, SSMS) technology.
The agreement was signed by Aleksey Dyumin, Governor of Tula Region, and Boris Sokol, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shchekinoazot JSC.
Aleksey Dyumin stated that Shchekinoazot is a leader of the European chemical industry and a strategic partner of the regional government. The capacity of the new production facility will be 8,640 tonnes yearly. The investment is to total at over RUB 500 mn. The project will significantly increase the output of special products that are in particular demand when dealing with infectious diseases.
'The government of the Tula Region and myself will continue to provide comprehensive support to Shchekinoazot in implementing this and other projects,' the Governor stressed.
'I am grateful to the Governor and the Government of the Tula Region for their support of another project by Shchekinoazot,' noted Boris Sokol. 'Today, when the coronavirus has not yet been defeated, it is very important to be able to manufacture sufficient volumes of products required to combat new dangerous infections. We got engaged in this crucial work simultaneously with the implementation of other investment projects. Governmental tasks aimed to protect the health and lives of the people have always been and will be a priority for our company.'
Investing in the production of a multilayer non-woven medical-grade spunbond fabric utilising Meltblown technology is poised to boost the region's productive power, promote advanced technology and create new jobs.
The investor intends to use own funds to implement the project 'Organisation of a production facility for non-woven fabrics utilising spunbond technology with the capability to manufacture multilayer non-woven fabric for medical purposes utilising Meltblown (spunbond, SSMS) technology with a yearly output of 8,640 tonnes' in the Pervomayskiy District of the Tula Region.
Shchekinoazot plans to start the investment project by July 2021 and complete it by July 2023.
The investment project will be implemented at the industrial site of Shchekinoazot JSC, Pervomayskiy Branch.
Pervomayskiy Branch is part of Shchekinoazot JSC, one of Russia's leading chemical companies active in the basic and industrial chemicals and consumer goods markets.
Pervomayskiy Branch of Shchekinoazot PJSC was founded in 2007. In 2009, the production of non-woven fabrics utilising spunbond technology with a yearly capacity of 3,600 tonnes was set up there. Today, the company is a major producer of non-wovens with an output of 9,840 tonnes per year.
The investment project involves the purchase and installation of equipment for the production of non-woven spunbond material with a capability to produce multilayer non-woven material for medical purposes utilising Meltblown technology, with a yearly output of 8,640 tonnes.
The company has already developed a business plan and financial model to be submitted to the bank. The location for the new equipment has been determined. Potential equipment suppliers are being selected for the tendering procedure.
