SHCHEKINOAZOT CONGRATULATES YASNAYA POLYANA MUSEUM-ESTATE ON CENTENARY[11.06.2021]
On 10 June, the Yasnaya Polyana Leo Tolstoy Museum-Estate celebrated its 100th anniversary.
An exhibition entitled First Century of the Museum Era, covering the history of the museum, was opened in front of the Volkonskiy House in the reserve. A photo area in the form of an art object called The 100th anniversary of the museum was erected next to the exhibition.
The festivities began with the cancellation of a commemorative stamp depicting Leo Nikolayevich and Sofya Andreyevna Tolstoy, the writer's house and the towers at the entrance to the estate.
The guests of the festivities were congratulated by Vladimir Tolstoy, Presidential Advisor on Culture and Art, who read out an address from Vladimir Putin; Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, who noted the relevance of the museum's exhibitions and the genuine interest of visitors; Aleksey Dyumin, Governor of the Tula Region, who emphasised that Yasnaya Polyana is now one of the world's most famous museums and the region's hallmark, as well as other prominent public figures and cultural figures of Russia.
The staff of the Museum-Estate have received federal and regional awards for their many years of service.
On behalf of Boris Sokol, President of Shchekinoazot, all the staff and Yekaterina Tolstaya, director of the Yasnaya Polyana museum, were congratulated by Dmitriy Kozhenkin, Deputy General Director for Social Affairs at Shchekinoazot.
'Today, the staff of the museum-estate keeps the traditions of Yasnaya Polyana in a professional and responsible manner and continues the activities started by Aleksandra Lvovna Tolstaya, the writer's daughter and the first custodian of the museum,' he emphasised. 'These traditions are being developed here in a new format and new approaches to working with tourists and young people, as well as in promoting the potential of the area. Under the leadership of Yekaterina Aleksandrovna Tolstaya, Yasnaya Polyana remains a globally important cultural and educational centre. Our company and Yasnaya Polyana have outlined new joint plans to develop the Museum-Estate and, therefore, the entire Tula region.'
To commemorate the anniversary, the Museum-Reserve, Shchekinoazot's social partner, was presented with a Hyundai snowplough which will make winter work on the estate easier, as well as a 1995 painting by the Tula-based artist Valery Bocharov called Yasnaya Polyana Pond. The company's employees have already planted over 10,000 trees in the ancient woods, and the programme to restore the memorial forest and preserve the historical landscape of the museum-estate continues.
