CONSTRUCTION OF AMMONIA/UREA COMPLEX PROCEEDS APACE [23.06.2021]
The A-525/K-700 ammonia/urea production facility at Shchekinoazot JSC is the largest project in the company's history. Today, construction is proceeding apace.
Shchekinoazot's partners from the licensor, China National Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd. are well-organised, and the construction work, carried out in accordance with the EPC contract, is of excellent quality.
The pouring of foundations for new production buildings is ramping up. The builders are concreting the columns of the future high-rise buildings and the floor slabs on which the equipment and process units will be mounted.
Construction control engineers from the capital construction department who supervise projects at Shchekinoazot inspect the work prepared for acceptance, noting that there are no quality issues. This proves the high professional level of the Chinese builders and engineers who accompany the construction phases.
The well-coordinated effort of all structural units of the company to achieve the set goals and meet construction deadlines should be noted.
The heads of the capital construction department hold regular joint meetings with all the construction participants, which allows for better coordination of the construction progress and the development of a cooperation strategy. At the infrastructure meetings, the process of hooking the complex up to the networks and utilities is under constant control.
The big project includes an array of smaller ones.
For example, a project to lay river and artesian water pipelines is underway. A contract has been signed with the designer company GLOBOTEK JSC of Togliatti. The detailed engineering design is due on 30 September. Then, in accordance with the plan, a contractor will be chosen within a month, and a building permit will be obtained in December. The completion date for this project within a project is 30 June 2022.
Important parts of the overarching project are the overhaul of the row 6 rack (inter-shop lines) and the pipe laying for the A-525/K-700 complex. The project documentation is complete, and the required materials are being procured. SpetsKhimStroy LLC, Moscow, was selected as the contractor. The relevant contract has been concluded. The procurement of equipment for the site has been completed, and a construction camp and sites for the preparation of pipeline blanks have been set up. The construction work has started and should be completed by early 2022.
In the context of the EPC contract, CNCEC specialists continue to develop a detailed design. They have issued a complete set of documentation for a 60% 3D model and have started issuing documentation for a 90% 3D model. Engineers from Shchekinoazot's project team are carrying out documentation checks. The final videoconferences are taking place regularly.
Weekly online sessions have been launched to training personnel in the operation and management of rotating equipment (compressors, pumps).
In the working area of the camp and on the main site, temporary roads are being laid, and auxiliary structures are built for pile reinforcement, underground pipeline welding and other activities such as preparing pile caps and building the foundations for the main buildings and structures of the unit.
Today, about 500 builders are working on the site.
The construction of the first phase of the A-525/K-700 perimeter road continues with the backfilling of the roadbed with crushed stone and the placement of road slabs.
Two pile drivers are operating on the main construction site; the work is being carried out by subcontractor Tulgidrospetsstroy LLC. Around 3,000 piles have been already delivered to the site and driven.
The foundations for the combined compression building, CO? treatment unit, urea granulation building framework, water treatment department and other facilities have been completed. Columns, support structures and slab elements are still being erected. The foundations and small columns of the urea granulation unit frame are 100 per cent complete. Underground pipelines are being laid.
The next stage will be the creation of a unique domed warehouse. A tender was held to select an organisation to develop the design documentation for the urea warehouse complex, and GLOBOTEK JSC was the winner. FERRMIX of Estonia was chosen as the contractor for the design and construction of the domed urea warehouse.
Under the EPC contract, orders have been placed for 98% of the rotating and static equipment. Licensed equipment from Haldor Topsoe A/S and Stamicarbon, as well as long lead time compressor equipment, should be ready by November 2021.
