Phenol-Formaldehyde Resins: facility is expanding [29.08.2014]
At the industrial facility of phenol-formaldehyde resins in the joint venture Hexion-ShchekinoAzot there continues execution of the project on the line expansion. Here there is installed the second reactor, new automatic system of loading and there is increased area of warehouses. All this will allow to decrease losses significantly during switch from one product to another and to expand the assortment greatly.
According to the words of the Deputy Director General on technical development at JSC ShchekinoAzot Eduard Savosh, currently works are implemented here as per schedule. Subcontractor CJSC Industrial and Cooperative Building Society ‘Monolit’ is completing installation and adjustment of equipment, instrumentation and control system and electrical part. At the reactor department there has been completing installation works at the line of resins preparation, valves and measuring devices are connected up and checked, flow tests are undertaken: everything is ready for pre-commissioning activities. Simultaneously there is being implemented installation of storage tanks at the warehouse of ready products and heating at the main pipelines. When heating is ready, it will be turn of insulation works. There only remians to carry out installation drain tube systems at the warehouse. Supply department is expected to provide the last consignment of pipelines with PIG cleaning system. Soon there are arriving automatic devices for product feeding, then it will be possible to complete activities at technological pipelines and loading rack. These activities are planned to be executed in September.
At the same time subcontractor with the help of ShchekinoAzot specialists is preparing facility commissioning documents. Specialists from Hexion-ShchekinoAzot are preparing all necessary instructions on working positions and manufacturing instructions.
At the site of ShchekinoAzot there is used modern technology of resins manufacturing which includes automated control system, high-tech equipment decreasing ecological impact. In particular, construction of PIG pipelines satisfies specialty of resins manufacturing and allows to clean pipes in full when switching to output of other kind of resin.
After the second reactor was placed into operation it became possible not only to separate production of different types of PHFRs, with losses during switching from one type to another being minimized, but also to expand greatly assortment of resins produced. Purposely for this the plan on technical revamping stipulates installation of the third reactor. But now it is matter of future.
Today the joint project of the American company Momentive and ShchekinoAzot is being executed successfully. Pre-commissioning activities started at the second reactor of PHFR production. By the end of the current year it is planned to load capacities to the maximum.
