Urea Formaldehyde Concentrate 85 (UFС-85)
UCF-85 is a homogenious viscous liquid, with the colour ranging from transparent to light-yellow.
The chemical and physical properties of UFC-85 are as follows:
Formaldehyde percentage: not more than 60.0±1.0%
Urea percentage: not more than 25.0±1.0%
Buffer capacity: not more than 12 ml
Hydrogen ions concentration: pH, 6.5 – 8.5
Chromaticity, APHA - 10 - 30
Relative viscosity at a temperature of 20± 0.5 °C not more than 80
Density at 20 °C: 1300 – 1325 g/cm3
Refraction index at 20 °C: 1460 – 1480
Methanol mass portion: not more than 0.3%
Mass portion of solid residuals after decrepitation: not more than 0.5%
UFC-85 is obtained by means of catalytic oxidation of methanol into formaldehyde with further absorption of formaldehyde into the solution of urea. It is the initial form of urea-formaldehyde resin.
UFC-85 is used in the production of urea-formaldehyde resins as raw material which contains formaldehyde. Also used in woodworking industry in the production of veneer and fiberboards.
