Charity and helping people are another area where Shchekinoazot invests a lot.
The active assistance to the development of the social environment, participation in the life of the younger generation and providing support to the population in the locations of our production facilities have become the basis of social stability, in itself a prerequisite for the company's effective operation.
Shchekinoazot annually invests considerable funds in charity.
This is how Platonovsky Park in Tula has been reconstructed. These days, it is not only a place of rest and recreation for Tula residents but also an art space where creative festivals, concerts, open-air exhibitions, workshops and children's festivals take place. The park's ecosystem has been restored and the biodiversity of local areas is being boosted. There are cultural and recreational areas, relaxation and silence spots, as well as grounds for sport and outdoor activities, all free to use by residents of Tula. The place also boasts a dog park, a skating rink and a slide.
We provide sponsorship to the Yasnaya Polyana estate museum, as well as children's, veterans' and social institutions and organisations.
We have dipped into our funds to plant over 10,000 trees in Yasnaya Polyana in a bid to restore Leo Tolstoy's memorial planted forests. There are plans for joint social activities for the current year. In 2021, the year of the estate museum's 100th anniversary, investments will tally over 2.4 million roubles.
These funds are poised to help restore historical outbuildings, purchase planting stock and seed material, develop the memorial vegetable garden and greenhouse and plant forests. Another goal is to improve the Kochakovskiy necropolis, home to the family burial place of the Tolstoys.
Since 2014, the Topsoe, Tolstoy and Sokol Families Charitable Foundation has been working to support children's talents in the Shchekino district.
The foundation was created by three families: the Tolstoys, the Topsoes (a Danish family of businesspeople, scientists and patrons of the arts) and the Sokols. Each of them had provided charitable assistance to those in need independently for a long time. Support was given to the elderly, children and gifted young people.
However, upon meeting one day on the Tula land, they all agreed they would be able to do even more together, namely, implement a good-hearted, appropriate, and righteous project in support of talented children.
Children regularly receive comprehensive assistance from the foundation. It contributes to the all-encompassing development of their talents, solving everyday issues and arranging their recreation and health improvement. Even after the children have grown up, the foundation stays in touch, continuing to patronise, help and supervise them, as well as provide them with extra scholarships for diligence in their studies.
The company supports many talented young people in Shchekino, helping them develop a healthy, responsible attitude to life and make sensible choices.
An improvement programme is being implemented in the settlement of Pervomayskiy. Through the joint efforts of government, business and people, it should once again be named the 'best settlement in Russia', the title officially awarded to it in 1968.
In 2020, the Foundation for the Development of Monotowns completed its annual rating of monotowns for 2019. The towns were compared across 17 indicators, including the quality and accessibility of infrastructure, the development of small and medium-sized businesses, the economic situation and interaction with development institutions.
The top 10 towns showing a high socio-economic development level featured the Tula Region's Pervomayskiy urban settlement. Pervomayskiy became a monotown in 2016. Since then, it has attracted over 39 billion roubles in investments and created about 800 new jobs.
The company used its own funds to install a stele at the entrance to the village, repaired the local hospital, participated in the People's Budget programme and constructed a fountain in the Chemists' Village. The local bathhouse also saw an overhaul. Shchekinoazot participated in the development of the park area and the central square. The facades of houses facing the main streets were remodelled.
In 2020, the Year of Memory and Glory, the company reconstructed the Grieving Soldier memorial featuring the USSR's first eternal flame.
Previously, it had landscaped the necropolises in Kochaki and Kresty. It continues overseeing the cleaning these areas and garbage removal.
Holiday lighting in Shchekino and Pervomayskiy was provided by Shchekinoazot. A touching winter gift to the district capital and its residents was a modern Christmas tree.
On holidays, the company organises festivities and concerts for the townsfolk, providing refreshments and inviting Russian pop stars to perform there.
Shchekinoazot allocated funds for the creation and installation of a monument to the singer-songwriter Igor Talkov in Shchekino.
The enterprise actively helps develop the local parks enjoyed as recreation places by many a resident of the Shchekino district. We have also funded the restoration of the historic Yasenki railway station in Shchekino.
The company takes loving care of veterans. It treats them to gifts on holidays, arranges get-togethers on the Elderly People's Day and organises recreational activities and medical treatment. It also provides extra financial support to World War II veterans, widows of veterans and former prisoners of concentration camps. Elderly people are grateful for such care.
In addition, Shchekinoazot provides targeted support to residents and organisations of the Tula Region.
Those living in children's homes are given gifts for the New Year and other holidays.
The company helps large families repair or purchase home appliances.
It also responds to residents' requests.
Charity is open hands; its purpose is to give back. It is a system, a genuine people's force and an effective social mechanism.
Year after year, Shchekinoazot increases its investments in social policy.
The promotion of social progress, sustainable development of the region and improvement of people's living standards is a worthy goal for any socially-oriented company.
