Sports, recreation, employee health
Today, the construction of the Ice Palace in Shchekino, a social facility important to locals, is underway. About 350 million roubles will be invested in the construction work. The new sports facility will open in 2021 in a bid to attract professional and amateur athletes and provide them with training facilities.
It will be a modern, well-lit and comfortable building, equally convenient for athletes, coaches and spectators. The floor area of the Palace will total over 6,000 m². The facility will include an ice rink for hockey and figure skating with an area of about 2,000 m², training gyms, locker rooms, premises for coaches and referees, a medical exam room and infrastructure rooms.
It will undoubtedly contribute to the further development of sports in the region, breathe a new athletic life into the Shchekino district and help young people opt for a healthy lifestyle.
Investments in sports have been a constant priority of Shchekinoazot's social policy over the recent years.
We place a particular emphasis on physical education and sports, as well as helping our personnel stay healthy. The enterprise has its own healthcare unit. The plant owns the Yubileyniy Palace of Sports in the settlement of Pervomayskiy. In 2016, Yubileyniy underwent a complete overhaul. Since then, it has been housing a modern boxing centre, a branch of the Vityaz sports club where children can practice for free thanks to funding by Shchekinoazot, and clubs for other sports. The pool is frequented by professional athletes and regular fitness buffs alike.
The first serious result shown by our boxers in high-profile tournaments was Ivan Onishchenko winning the European Junior Championship in the heavyweight division.
In 2018, the Vityaz children and youth sports club was opened in Suvorov with the support of Shchekinoazot.
The company provides financial support to the wrestling and karate clubs, as well as the Setball tennis centre in Tula.
In 2019, the company completed a major project to revamp the martial arts arena in Shchekino; these days, it is the modern Mir athletics centre where both famous athletes and beginners come to train. We invested nearly 24 million roubles in its reconstruction. Mir hosts practice sessions for champions and record breakers, including masters of sports of international class Darya Abramova, Viktoriya Miftiyeva, Ayrapet Avanesyan and more.
Every year, athletic festivals are held for the company's employees. Teams from various shops and divisions partake in competitions in a range of sports; the company's employees also contest individual championships. At the end of the year, the winners are given the Best Athlete title and awards from the company.
A crucial part of Shchekinoazot's social policy is the organisation of recreation and leisure for the company's employees and their children. We annually invest significant funds amounting to tens of millions of roubles in such projects.
Recreational seaside holidays for Shchekino-based chemists at the Black Sea coast, health resort treatment and vacations for employees' children in the picturesque resort areas of Central Russia — all these are long-standing traditions of Shchekinoazot, proof of the company's high social responsibility standards.
Shchekino chemists have maintained another tradition: they often gather to relax and spend their free time together with their families and teams. The Trade Union Committee of Shchekinoazot works to arrange for beneficial leisure, interesting pastime and worthwhile communication.
The company funded a major renovation of the Khimik House of Culture in the settlement of Pervomayskiy. Today, it houses the District Centre for Children's Art and numerous creator clubs of the House of Culture.
